I found out she's having s boy, so I found a skein of Fleece Artist's Organic Wool (sadly its been discontinued) in the color 'Glacier'.
A different knitter friend helped me with blanket patterns, pointing out that while patterns with lace are beautiful, they are impractical due to little fingers pulling on the holes & ripping. I settled on a diamond & lozenges pattern and am loving the result.
